Standards Compliance & Testing
With any web-based solution, it's very important to have
compatibility with the widest range of web browsers. Robust testing,
possibly automated, is vital within the software
development lifecycle.
As standard, we supply our clients' websites fully quality tested, using the five major
web browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari & Chrome.
Browser compatibility, testing and standards compliance, though linked,
usually have different importance depending on the target audience and
sponsor.
Accessibility compliance comes in many differ forms. For example, public, charity and government
sponsored websites, for obvious reasons typically mandate accessibility compliant
features defined by the
W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) guidelines. Whether
your accessibility requirements are 'A', 'AA' or 'AAA', we can tailor our page design
and choices of technology to meet these requirements.
Mark-up compliance standards, like accessibility, exist in different versions and are defined
and validated by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). HTML, XHTML or CSS can all exist
with different markup compliance. Sometimes it can be advantageous and justified to use
non-standard markup to provide feature rich functions. However there is always a trade-off
in that the benefits of employing non-standard markup should always outweigh the reasons
for not using it.
Specifically XHTML 1.0 Strict, XHTML 1.0 Transitional, XHTML 4.0 can be supplied where
necessary for given projects, please
